At last the clay has arrived! We can now create our canopic jars. We have made the jars and the lids. Once they are dry we can paint them. They are going to look fantastic!
Food Waste Workshop
This afternoon, we were very lucky to have four biology students from Sheffield University come into class to work with us. We found out about.......
Today Class 5 went to St Polycarp’s church for Walk Through Holy Week. This gave us the opportunity to bring together what we have learnt in R.E. throughout the term. We were very proud of the class - they remembered so much about the Jewish Passover and how Christian’s celebrate Easter. Plus they were complimented several times on their knowledge, how much they participated and their behaviour - well done Class 5 - you are stars!
We have begun the week with a visit to Sheffield University where we were scientists for the day (we even got to wear lab coats!).
Happy New Year to you all!
This term our topic is Pharaohs. The class have been looking forward to finding out about the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. We will be writing Howard Carter's diary, building pyramids, mummifying tomatoes and designing and making our own canopic jars. We might even squeeze in a trip to visit some real mummies at Weston Park Museum - watch this space!
Our topic this term is ‘Off with her Head’ and we’ll be learning all about Henry VIII and his wives.
We’re also studying Shakespeare’s Macbeth, working on problem solving skills in place value and addition and subtraction in maths. We’re also developing our coding skills with Hopscotch and enjoying Sheffield United coming in to help deliver quality PE sessions on a Thursday.
