Disaster strikes... the superheroes which help to keep our city safe and sound have fallen ill!
Who will save us now?
Crash! Bang! wallop!
Have no fear, year one are here to the rescue.
During this busy half term we have been basing our learning around superheroes. Firstly, we had an unwanted visitor in the classroom, the evil villain Mr Slime! He sneaked in to our class whilst we were at lunch one day and slimed every surface. Luckily we were able to use our investigative science skills to explore the slimy mess and hatch a plan to defeat him, one which involved using different materials to design and create artistic masks to scare away the villain. Of course we couldn't try to defeat a villain without first exploring different ways of moving like a hero, we marched in to the hall to stomp, slither, swing and sneak around, practicing different ways of getting around in our PE sessions. We learnt about a real life historical hero: Florence Nightingale.
We attended superhero training sessions in order to build up our maths and literacy skills, which meant that at the end of the half term we could graduate as fully qualified superheroes!
And hopefully we taught the evil Mr Slime a lesson he'll never forget.
